a little about me
I was raised in the small town of Chehalis Washington, on top of a little hill called Kennicott Drive, surrounded by rural life and an incredibly supportive family. Both of which I am constantly inspired by. Nature and its wide open spaces, and my family inspire my art and are more often than not the subject of it. My artwork constantly reflects the moments in which I feel most at peace, and most at home, thus my name...Kennicott Press.
I began as a graphic designer when I made the leap from a major in business to one in Art & Design as a sophomore completing my undergraduate degree at PLU. I soon discovered within the art department a hidden gem: the world of printmaking and letterpress printing. A "dying" art that ironically filled me with more life and passion than I had ever felt before. Each aspect of the process requires a lot of time and patience - the typesetting, the carving, the printing itself - but the end result is a tangible piece of art, formed by several unique parts that have been brought together in a cohesive way by my own two hands. The process is what makes the art all the more fulfilling to create.
